Built between 1926 and 1930 in the heart of Bucharest, Universul Palace was originally the headquarters of Universul, one of interwar Romania's most influential newspapers. Designed in a striking neoclassical style by renowned architect Paul Smărăndescu, the palace stood as a symbol of the golden age of Romanian press, where journalism, politics, and public life converged.
Having survived decades of change while many of the capital's historic buildings did not, Universul Palace has been carefully restored and reborn as a vibrant landmark — a rare example of heritage preserved and given new life within the city's modern fabric.
